Well, I thought SMS had BVNW. Lost QB in the first half. Ran the wildcat well in 2nd quarter. Led 21-14 at half. SMS wasn't moving the ball particularly well in 3rd quarter but defense was stopping BVNW. Abdul was injured in 3rd quarter(Wildcat QB and safety). Pinned BVNW down at 15 at start of 4th quarter. Then, a missed tackle behind the line and maybe a second around the line and Coda runs for 85 and a tie game. SMS gets the ball and moves the ball a bit and then a funbled hand off. Shortly after that, SMS behind 28-21. Guild had an ankle injury on next series I think. Came back in hobbling later. Didn't look like he could really play, but, I almost questioned if it was a ruse when he ran "Guildesque" for 10-15 yards on a 3rd down with a couple of cuts and carried a couple of guys 2-3 yards before being forced back. Alas, it wasn't to be.

Not sure what kind of yardage Guild had. 3 big runs in first half. I would guess 160-200 in first half. Maybe 40-70 ish in 2nd half.

Guess SMS will have to check the injuries and do a gut check next week to figure out how they are going to finish the season. Need 2 big wins and OE doesn't look easy. Actually, unless the turnovers are stopped, no team will be easy.

Agree, SMS Watcher. SM South had their chances, but the injuries and mistakes were what lost them the game. BVNW came out pretty pumped up, what with it being their homecoming and all, but SM South pretty much matched all the energy and yeah Guild looked unstoppable in the first half. The two interceptions were killer...

Second half the injuries did SM South in. But, that being said, they should be able to beat BVN next week. Assuming they don't make the mental mistakes and turnovers they did tonight.

And as another side note, the BVNW team we saw today was a blueprint of every team I've seen from that school since I first saw them live in 2004. Flashy skill position players, fun offense to watch, lots of jumping around... etc, etc. They always look like a team with the talent to go a long ways, but they seemingly always dip out in the playoffs once they play a team that overpowers them physically. We'll see if that changes this time around, but nothing they did today showed me they were any better than their similar units of the past.

Well, Wyandotte.... welcome to big boy football in the Sunflower League. A 5-1 mark in the KC league is at best a 1-5 mark in the SFL. Great QB, but he is a 1-man show. Way to take care of business, 'Birds! Everyone played in this one and it was good to see the future of FS football is just as bright as today!

SMS had perfect chance last night and they let it slip through the fingers with the mistakes.

Don't give up SMS fans. If Guild is okay, BVN is a patsy and OE is very beatable in week 9. Win those two games and you're probably still in.

Free State Fan, I think Wyandotte would actually beat SMN, SMNW and possiblly LV and ON.

Not giving up at all...just would like to see good things happen for this team. Feel these next two games are big for the confidence and the future success for the program. Need to take the next step and play in meaningful games. Need to stop being a doormat.

MV, FS played SMN and ON and I doubt Wyandotte could beat them. They play LV in week 9 and I expect LV to win going away. Wyandotte is as good as their QB has room to run. He doesn't get much protection and their D is very beatable.

Free State was up 42-0 at the half. The first team was only in one possession in the second half and they drove the field for a score and killed about 7 minutes of clock. Then it was the reserves from then on out. Like FSF said, everyone who suited up for Free State got into the game which was great to see. Class act by the Free State coaching staff.

Freestate game sounds like a carbon copy of the SMW-SMN game.
