Picking the Top 2010 Sunflower League TE/DE is going to fun this year. Word is out that Brent Guiser has some serious game and according to the an article published in the KC Star, ". Guiser is poised to emerge as perhaps the most complete tight end in the Sunflower League" He will also be odds on favor to take the 2011 6A State Title in Javelin with his monster arm.

whoever it was that said that is a dumbass. Goodger was first team again while that stud brent guiser was honorable mention.

why isn't goodger on the sunflower leauge all decade team? i have issues with this.......

Anonymous said...

All Decade Team?? Who would he replace?

Mister SMNW is a definitely a one man wrecking crew. His teammates have to be extremely grateful that he was the only reason the Cougars salvaged a .500 season. My top unsung hero is Kyle Goodburn. SMN may not have had a stellar season but Goodburn was a true team player and nobody in the league came up bigger each time he touched the ball. 45 yard punting average. To the moon, Alice!!!!!

I think alot of you need to understand, much of this Goodger talk isn't really ment to boolster Goodger, or even from Goodger supporters. It is to rile up others so they add to the fun.
Who knows, maybe it is Eli writting these spots. Whoever it is, it's added much to the comment section.

Only 4 non-seniors on the list for first team (Elliot Faeber, Ethan Goss, Scott Gourley, and Alex Allen) and one is a kicker. It's going to be interesting then who steps up next year, esp, in the skill positions where Faeber is the only returner. The second team obviously has some potential at the wide receiver position and Tre Burt at running back, but No defensive returners on 1st or second team... It makes thinking about next year pretty interesting.

The East and Free State receivers on the first and second team lose their quarterbacks next year, could make a difference.

Look for Chad Johnson to be a go to receiver for Olathe East. Treshawn Root for OE is a terrific running back. It is kind of fun to have the 1st and 2nd teams made up of mostly seniors. This way it is a wide open race. We will see next year who in the Sunflower league steps up to the challenge of being named to the 2011 Coaches All-Sunflower team. ELI thanks for all you do in your spare time to bring us up to date information. This is a terrific website and I wish you success in your future endeavors. Senior classman whether you choose to play football in your college life or not, we have thoroughly enjoyed Friday Night Football. Thanks also to the terrific coaches in the SFL.

The problem with HS receivers, as the above post mention, is so much of their production depend on their Quarterbacks year to year. The example at O-South is they had the top returning receiving corps according to Eli with Kendal Harland, who had nearly 40 receptions last year and Steven King who had 20, and I guarantee that combined all the South receivers didn't catch 20 passes. I know they changed their offense, but having a sophomore start at QB hurts a bit (unless it's that kid from Lawrence). I have seen that Root Kid from east, he does seem to have a lot of potential to be the next Willingham/Groves/Walker/Jones/Brown/insert fast stud running back from east here. That receiver East has maybe good, but again, who's going to throw to him? I wonder a lot about who is going to take the running game over at North now that Simmons, Saunders, and Wilson are gone, they had no one step in for those guys, with good reason. Same at south, Crist and Sands are gone, are they going to have another kid who can carry that load like Sands did, I saw him play, while he wasn't athletically gifted as the other Olathe backs, kid was as tough as nails. And Olathe Northwest, lord knows what they're going to do on offense, it changes every year.

So with the Big 3 Olathe Schools that love to run the ball, now that south joined the smashmouth club, it looks like East with root and at least a returning first teamer with Goss is going to be the early favorite? Maybe?

Buffalomeat will have a shot at first team receiver next year with a returning quarterback. Made second team despite missing 3 games and barely playing in a fourth because of mono. Also a good basketball player.

Heard a runnor about OE's Treshawn Root leaving OE for ON In Jan.

Anonymous said...

oops. "rumor" not runnor.

Matt Baltimore is still with East and he was on 2nd team as a defensive starter. I think he can be all-league next year.

Anonymous said...

Only Junior on 1st or 2nd team for defense.

It seems to me that North is starting to attract some talent from around with getting back to the winning tract...From around Olathe i have been hearing rumors of a few of south, east and northwest kids heading over to olathe north i'll def have to come back and see what rumors came true or not

Matthew Baltimore is a stud. I think he should have been first team, but coaches often give love to the seniors if it's a close vote. Every year, I hear of transfers from one school to the other in Olathe, very rarely does it happen, or if it does, it's rarely significant. If Root transfers, he better do it over break, or he'll have to sit out next varsity football season. I have heard a kid (RB) from South also wants to transfer, but again, we're talking about guys that were third options on their teams last year... That also makes me think, Olathe North must be uncharacteristically short on RBs next year if these kids think they got a shot to play there next year... Interested to see what North has in their Junior class.

Anonymous said...

Root is already in progressing of transfer within a month by now.
Someone saw Root's parent at Olathe North yesterday so...

EagleFreshman said...

As far as I know, there is no shortage of runningbacks. Even if there was, I'm sure they can can find some other player to take the reins.

Anonymous said...

Who does north have for rb's next year?

EagleFreshman said...

#4 Tyrell Styles, #31 Terence Brown, #39 David Kirby, and #41Tony Wagner are all possibilities next season, though these are just the juniors. There are also sophomores that could have a small chance at 2nd String Varsity next year.

Anonymous said...

Eli, could you check Perry's stats. The elete 11
says he has 9 rushing TD's,
but your stat page says 13.
Thank's, enjoyed your site

Anonymous said...

I heard styles and kirbey both
quit during the season this year

Anonymous said...

Terrance Brown is the best of those kids listed, he's more of a bruiser back than what we're used to seeing at O-North, they're probably looking for a speedy compliment. I think they have a sophomore named Conner Hofsford (or something like that) that's decent, but again, nothing like what we're used to seeing out of North.

That's interesting about Root to North, with that I think that'll make O-North the new favorite, Olathe East's top two running backs in that class transferred (Root to North and Jordan Ward to South already happened). So, without Root, what's do the Hawks have coming up?

Anonymous said...

... and No, East didn't have any especially impressive RBs at the sophomore level.

EagleFreshman said...

There is a possibility that those two quit, but I don't know much about the JV and Sophs outside their records. The freshman team didn't do much with the Upper classman besides warm ups, and even then, we sometimes did warm ups ourselves.

Anonymous said...

who's Conner hosford?

Anonymous said...

Looks like Root is going to ON after all. Heard through the grapevine that Flood had been flooding him with phone calls to get him to transfer.

Anonymous said...

Flood calling Root would be highly illegal and morally questionable. That's a dangerous claim to make that holds a lot of consequences, make sure you know what you're saying (and you might) because that's a heavy accusation....

however if you can back that claim up with evidence, that would be a great scandal for the local rags...

Anonymous said...

After seeing first hand what Root can do, he will easily be the starting rb for north in the coming year

Anonymous said...

Root is not going to north. He will be a hawk next season.

Anonymous said...

^ hahahahaha! Keep dreaming!

Anonymous said...

Guys, there is a chance that all these Root to North posts are by one guy that posts anonymously to look like many, and is trying to pull a fast one on everyone.

Anonymous said...

doesnt matter. shawnee mission east will beat root and his team no matter where he goes

EagleFreshman said...

says the team who lost to Olathe South. haha

Anonymous said...

Shawnee Mission East? I wonder...

Anonymous said...

SME will be a very competitive team next tear. More of a running team then passing with the loss of Schrock. Adam Lowe probably the second best junior running back this year behind Tre Burt. Lowe was the starter the whole year at east but was not given many chances in some games. However when given chances and decent blocking he was very effective. He will lead the team next year along with some decent numbers from Faerber

Anonymous said...

Heard that Tre Burt is transferring to SMN. They'll need all the help they can get!

Anonymous said...

SME...a "competitive team"? LOL! Not anymore.

Anonymous said...

Tre Burt transferring to north. yeah there's no way that's true, I hope you were being sarcastic.

Drew Goodger SMNW is D-MAN!!!!! He has a verbal commit to Minnesota. I see where Brent Guiser OE pulled down the top TE spot on the All Olathe League.

With HS Football almost behind us and I say almost because Bubba Starling is set to compete in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday at the Alamodome. The game will be televised by NBC, with a noon kickoff.

GE and Blue Valley would have faired very well had they went head to head against the Sunflower League teams this year.

Look for SMNW is win the Sunflower in 2011. Go Cougars!!!!!!
