Todd Dain |
Dain had been the head coach at Olathe Northwest since 2003, when the school first opened.
In the fall of 2003 the program's highest level of football competition was JV, which Dain coached. Since 2004, Olathe Northwest has had a varsity team under Dain.
During his nine seasons as the varsity head coach Dain compiled a 27-57 record. Despite an overall winning percentage of just .321, the Ravens qualified for the playoffs in 2006, 2009 and 2011.
Dain's best squad, on paper, came in 2011 when his Ravens went 5-5 and made a Regional appearance in the state playoffs. The star player on that year's team was their 6-foot-10 wide receiver Willie Cauley-Stein, who's now noted for his success on the basketball court at the University of Kentucky.
Prior to his arrival at Olathe Northwest, Dain was the head coach at SM East from 2000 to 2002. During his time with the Lancers he compiled a 13-18 record. Included in those 13 wins was a Sub-State berth in 2001 and a Sectional appearance in 2002.
Prior to his first head coaching gig at SM East, Dain served as an assistant coach at SM West.

This may mean the league has a new contender coming up. Watch for ONW to be pretty salty within the next couple years.
You may be shocked on the next coach, It's not good news for the other Olathe Schools, if the murmurs I'm hearing is correct...
I think I've heard the rumors. Won't be shocked much and that's another reason ONW will be a contender as soon as next year. There may be tears at many other schools!
I have always thought that ONW should be one of the top 4-5 teams in the league. Just to bad coach Dain was not able to get them there.
Who are they saying will be the next coach?
Rumor has it Chip Sherman will be named head coach pending a board approval on Thursday
I'm sure the SME parents are trying to throw as much money as they can at that one.
The rest of the league better watch out, ONW is on the rise!
http://www1.smsd.org/Supplemental/AllSchools.cfm Sherman will become a Rave on Thursday
Excellent detective work there Adam.
Yeah, I heard it was official, announcement tomorrow. Leaves a hole at SM East now.
Here's food for thought: Is it a slap in the face to SM East that Sherman would basically take a lateral move within the SAME LEAGUE to a team who have finished BEHIND East in all the years Sherman has been there? What does that say about East, if anything?
I figured it either had to be Sherman or Myers. I think this could be good news for SMS, looking now to secure the #2 spot in the SM district. Man, I can't wait for football season....once the final four is over, I just can't get into the NBA or MLB. four more months.
