Week One Players of the Week

Bryce Torneden, Free State: In his first career start at quarterback, Torneden completed nine of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. More importantly, his team collected the victory.

Dalton Lewallen, SM South: Talk about an impressive showing to begin the season. Lewallen carried the ball nine times for 106 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to catching two passes for 39 yards and another touchdown. Defensively, Lewallen recorded five tackles and an interception.

Week One Coach of the Week

Jeff Gourley, Olathe South: Olathe South followed up their incredible 12-1 run to the 2011 state title with mostly disappointing back-to-back 5-4 seasons. Seeking improvement, the coaching staff consulted with Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn this past offseason, while Malzahn was recruiting Braden Smith. The result was a revamped offense, courtesy of one of the nation's most brilliant offensive minds. On Friday, Gourley and his team ransacked Hutchinson, 24-2, and set the tone for what they hope will be another incredible run in 2014.

There is no way Triplett had 196 yards i think 96 might be more accurate.

I wonder how come some of the schools didn't turn in the defense stats???? Especially North!!!

Triplett is listed in the database as having ran the ball 23 times for 196 yards and two touchdowns. That could very easily have been a data entry typo.

Austin Lockwood said...

Wait... if Wright didn't throw the touchdown... who did? I remember someone saying there was a passing touchdown for Olathe North.

NORTHFAN said...

I was at that game and Wright threw a touchdown pass to Denzel Foster, but Triplett did run in 2 touchdowns

I don't remember clearly but im pretty sure I was the one giving the defensive stats for ON last year for awhile but since I don't play on the team anymore that's not really possible for me now. I have no idea when we'll be seeing stats from ON.

Austin Lockwood said...

Well Triplett definitely only ran 1 in but its a shame more 6A schools aren't doing like SM East and recording their games. Some have things like PlayOn or whatever but I'd rather just have recordings of everything.
