SM East (4-0) at Lawrence Free State (2-2) at Free State Athletic Stadium

The Lancers are averaging 362 yards rushing per game, tops in the league ... SM East ranks second in the league in passing yards, averaging 132 per game ... Free State quarterback Bryce Torneden's 433 rushing yards ranks fourth in the league ... SM East is 15-2 under head coach Dustin Delaney ... Free State handed SM East one of Delaney's two losses, in a 17-10 overtime victory in week six last season ... the Firebirds haven't had a losing record at any point during the regular season since September of 2008, when they sat at 1-2 through three weeks of play ... SM East's opponents thus far are a combined 3-13.

Olathe North (4-0) at Leavenworth (2-2)
at Pioneer Stadiun

Olathe North head coach Gene Wier is 18-1 all-time against Leavenworth ... Mark Littrell, Leavenworth's head coach, spent four years as an assistant under Wier at Richland (TX) High School ... Wier holds a 5-1 advantage against Littrell from the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Littrell was the head coach at Olathe South ... Leavenworth and Olathe North have the league's Nos. 1 and 2 pass defenses, respectively ... Pioneer linebacker Anthony Hunt leads the league in tackles with 56 ... Venus Triplett, the league's leading rusher, is averaging roughly 27 carries, 134 yards and two touchdowns per game for Olathe North.

SM West (1-3) at Olathe South (3-1) at ODAC

These teams have only faced off five times the last 10 years, and SM West holds a 4-1 advantage in those matchups ... the last time SM West began a season 1-3 was in 2003 ... Olathe South quarterback Jake Seurer has recorded 755 yards of total offense and 12 touchdowns ... SM West cornerback Isaiah Macklin is tied for the league lead in interceptions with three ... the Vikings defeated the Falcons, 23-8, in week two last season ... aside from Olathe North, these are the only two programs in the league who have won state titles since 1996.

Olathe East (3-1) at SM Northwest (1-3) at SM North District Stadium

Olathe East has gone 7-0 against SM Northwest in the past 10 seasons ... the last time these teams met was on October 7th, 2011, where Olathe East won 37-20 ... the Hawks have been pretty average in total offense and total defense (they rank sixth in the league in both categories) but they are tied for the second best record in the league ... SM Northwest's defense ranks dead last in the league in yards allowed, giving up on average 457 yards per game.

Lawrence (2-2) at SM South (1-3) (Thursday game) at SM South District Stadium

After recording a 41-12 victory in week one, SM South has gone 0-3 and been outscored 16-116 in those three losses ... Lawrence ranks second in the league with 286 rushing yards per game, but they rank last in the league at 29 passing yards per game ... Lawrence defensive lineman Amani Bledsoe leads the league in sacks with seven ... Raider quarterback Matt Hollingsworth has managed 387 passing yards and two touchdowns, but his seven interceptions put him last in the league in quarterback rating (27) among the league's 12 starting quarterbacks.

Olathe Northwest (2-2) at SM North (0-4) (Thursday game) at SM North District Stadium

The most potent passing attack in the league belongs to SM North, who leads the league averaging 220 passing yards per game, on an average of 32 pass attempts per game ... these teams have only met five times since Olathe Northwest's inception in 2004, and the Ravens hold a 4-1 edge in the series ... Olathe Northwest's two wins are equal to or more than they recorded during the regular seasons in 2004, 2008 and 2012 ... between the two programs, there has been just one winning season in the last 10 years (1 for 20) and that was SM North's 5-4 campaign in 2004.

Was in the stands tonight at the SMWest/Olathe South game, thought the Vikes were going to win it- it's not their bad starts, they are getting out coached. Coach Callaghan should play his biggest offensive weapons, Goldston and Macklin- can't figure out what he's doing. The talent and toughness is there- Pembridge is a beast on both sides of the ball and Jared Green is MASSIVE and he moves well. I just don't get it- what's coach C doing?? The man needs to quit holding back and play to win.
