You have GOT to be freaking kidding me...are they actually going to make us go play our home game AT Lawrence for the third year in a row???? This is SOOOO unfair...why not re-schedule it for Saturday??

Eli Underwood said...

This is what happens when the scheduling gets jumbled up and four of the six SFL games are being played at two venues (SMN and SMS) in two days, while ODAC and CBAC sit wide open.

And to Imp's comment of playing on Saturday, from my own experience (we played Olathe North on a Saturday my sophomore year) it was just a bad scenario for everyone.

The game was absurdly hot on the turf (the game was played at 1 p.m.), the starters only had one day to rest before putting the pads back on on Monday, and NOBODY on the team was happy about playing on one of their usual "off days," and meanwhile having to practice on a Friday evening.

Hey saves me some gas money plus we get to play in the best stadium in the league. Win Win

Wait so now the game is back at South at 3:00? Cool.

Actually it really sucks, lots of people probably won't make the game because of the early start.

What a game...Pubhouse good effort by your boys, had to be heartbreaking but I think you'll win your next two. Vikes on the other hand couldn't have played much worse for the first 46 1/2 minutes. 6 fumbles, lost 4, 2 inside the Lion 10 yard line. Going to have to be about 6,000% better next week to have any chance against the 'Birds'. I will give them that they played their asses off the last minute and a half. Spight with the big block on the PAT the kept Lawrence to a 13-7 lead and then a huge kick return by Andre and a great series by AJ who was able to rally even after a sack left him in 3rd and 10 at the lion 40. Louis had a good game running but, like most of the Vikings funbled at a key point. Run defense was awful...Lee needs to get back on the field full time and the much hyped West LB core needs to make some plays...let's go next week boys, you're on TV, that should get you up.

I know it's tough in those black jerseys in the sun...we REALLY need to buy GOLD home jerseys for day games....

There is more parity in this league than what was being let on in the beginning of the season... SM West could very easily be 1-2. Olathe North looked impressive, even if it was against North. Can't wait for the later games tonight. Great game from Free State and West.

Imp...thanks, it was heartbreaking to say the least. I respect West, but even in the loss I think the Lions made a statement today. It's a long year, and we'll have our day.

NW fan, they aren't 1-2, but 3-0. Experience in gutsy games will pay divid ends in close games in the playoffs. Hats off Chesty Lions. Anything can happen this year!

great job Olathe North! #16 Chazz Burgess had a great game at WR and CB, scoring the first passing TD and making the 1st interception for the team this season. He also had some great catches and a monster block that set up a Josh Moore TD

What a great night of SFL Football! Great work by all schools!

Did Lawrence miss an XP or what? How did that even out to 13 points?

Lee Spight blocked the LAW PAT with 1:32 left in the game. Andre Malone returned the kick off to the Lion 40 and AJ Verdini competed several passes including a TD with :15 left. SMW kicks the point after for the win.

Wow, what a week! Anyone who's not playing SMN is in for a battle. Every other team was competitive this week. What fun.

Man I can't wait for the match up of the year next week. Both teams have proven they can turn it on in clutch situations. Should make for an incredible game and probably a photo finish. Also glad to see Nyle Anderson get an opportunity to show his talent, he wouldn't have gotten that opportunity at FS.

Was at SME-ONW game. I have seen a lot of football over the past 45 or so years and I can say, without question, that was one of the most improbable & exciting finishes I've EVER seen! No hyperbole here...truly amazing. ONW UP 14-13 then 3 TD's in the last 2 1/2 minutes, starting with a SME 75 yard fumble return on 4th & 3 by a D lineman as ONW was about to put the game away! Followed by a perfectly executed 2 minute drill by ONW-with a 2pt conversion to go ahead by 1 with 35 seconds left. East throws a few out routes to get to their own 45 with 3 seconds left. A Hail Mary that deflected off 1 kids hands, another kids helmet and into the hands of the SME receiver! This does not do it justice.
Now, SME...hold on to the damn ball!!! Another 5-6 fumbles. Yikes!

Way to Go SMS. Offense and running game worked today. Need to work on that special teams coverage. Need to play a bit more disciplined. That second half wouldn't have been close without the penalties.

Five of 6 games were close. Every team has so much talent! This season sets up great. I was thrilled with FS's win last night. It showed who they are. FS wins three ways. Offense - too many weapons to cover, 13 TD's in 3 games by at least 7 guys I can remember for sure. You have to have a defense that can cover every eligible guy on every play. Defense - 11 athletes that fly to the ball. They are not perfect, but tough as nails. X Factor - seniors. They are everywhere and many of them have been starters since sophomores. They don't get rattled and are great leaders. Now if they can come out in the first half with their second half mentality, they will be a complete team. Go 'Birds!

@Free State Fan - seems much of your "talent" is from dirty late hits....go watch the film.

@orangeluv You discuss dirty but if i remember correctly it was Olathe East who punched one of Freestates linemen repeatedly in the head in front of a ref for no reason. And then he started running his mouth off to the ref. Or how about the two times Joe Dineen ran the ball into the sidelines the whistle was blown, he was at a complete stop and he got hit. Twice that happened. Losing a game is never fun but don't be a sore loser and try to blame it on "dirty late hits"

You're telling me that a big lumbering linemen made it all the way to your safety who was just hanging out on the ground and then he hit him? Yeah that does make sense, I watched Joe get hit multiple times. Every time he ran out of bounds he was getting hit. Your team mate who got hit i feel awful for, any hit to the head is painful to watch. I had several concussions playing football in high school and each one was scary. How ever i can tell you that no one would purposefully hit someone in the head so your conclusion that it was on purpose is a stretch and you know it. I too hope that Olathe East makes it to the play offs to play Freestate, that would make for an exciting game.

I would love to but alas, i do not have access to Olathe East film.

Wii Not Fit said...

Ok here are the facts. It was a chippy and in some cases dirty game. On BOTH sides. There were personal fouls on both teams (2 on OE and 1 on FS). A young man also did suffer a concussion which is a bad situation and I'm praying for him and wish him the best. If I were a coach on either side I would be punishing my teams tomorrow at practice. The reality is, OE had a 20-7 halftime lead and was not able to hang on. Where the game is played should have no effect on the outcome and is an absurd thing to blame a loss on. Those are two very talented teams and it made for an entertaining game and I do hope the get the chance to play each other again come playoff time.

Hey Connor, remember this play from last year's playoff game? How many flags were there? None. How many flags should there have been? How many FS players were crying about it here on this blog? None. How many OE players were bragging about it on twitter (the day before they had to turn their pads in because they lost)? Several. You do know college coaches can read your comments here, right? Good luck with the rest of your season. http://tinypic.com/r/e192zl/5
