1. Joe Dineen, Quarterback, Lawrence Free State
Week nine stats: 7-of-12 passing, 156 yards, 2 TDs; 11 carries, 101 yards, 1 TD
Dineen's efforts on Friday were an excellent sample of what he's done all season. He leads the Sunflower League in total offense with 1,673 yards, and touchdowns with 22. But based on what we've seen from him this year, is that really a surprise?
2. Venus Triplett, Running Back, Olathe North
Week nine stats: 32 carries, 202 yards, 2 TDs
I set the over/under on Triplett's rushing yards at 1,500 before the season began. So far, that's about what he's on track for (he currently sits at 1,237 rushing yards). If he hits that mark, or goes over it this week, it will only mean good things for the Eagles.
3. Jason Randall, Running Back, Leavenworth
Week nine stats: 23 carries, 120 yards, 2 TDs
Randall, who leads the league in rushing yards with 1,243, has given Leavenworth an edge every single week. Even though they didn't perform particularly well against Leavenworth, he still played an excellent performance and we're guaranteed to see him perform at least one more week.
4. Cole Murphy, Quarterback, Olathe North
Week nine stats: 7-of-9 passing, 84 yards, 2 TDs; 13 carries, 39 yards
Murphy resurfaces on the list after a pretty strong showing in week nine. He didn't need to do a ton statistically, but he was extremely efficient with his touches. The more he does in the playoffs, the less opponents will be able to focus on Triplett and the more options the Eagles will have.
5. Ra'Keim Abdul, Running Back, SM South
Week nine stats: 27 carries, 152 yards
Abdul closed out his career with a the kind of hard-nosed effort we would expect from the senior in his last game. It's too bad we won't get to see him on the gridiron again, but we'll be able to watch him play on the hardwood all winter.
