Rivals.com has reported that Olathe North senior-to-be Victor Simmons (left) has received a scholarship offer from the University of Kansas. Simmons is the first player from the class of 2011 in the Sunflower League to be offered by a division one school.
Last season Simmons rushed for over 1,000 yards from the quarterback position, and also started as a defensive back in helping lead Olathe North to its eighth 6A state championship title. The Jayhawks are recruiting Simmons as a defensive back.
Simmons' class of 2011 teammates Adonis Saunders and Kyle Swartz are also perceived as having division one talent, and could be receiving division offers of their own as the summer rolls on.
Simmons is the fourth Olathe North football player in the last three years to receive a division one offer, joining Kevin Young, Lucas Vincent, and Tre Walker. Young attends Kansas, while Vincent will be headed to Missouri and Walker to Kansas State.
