Lawrence (1-2) at Leavenworth (0-3) at Leavenworth

Lawrence is better than their 1-2 record shows, but they've played a tough schedule so far and they finally get what should be a "gimme" win against Leavenworth.  Leavenworth as an overall unit has played and looked much better than previous years, but they still lack the continuity to do much damage in the league.

SM Northwest (1-2) at Lawrence Free State (2-1) at Lawrence Free State

This game is traditionally a pretty fun matchup on the offensive side of the ball.  Free State appears to have chosen Kyle McFarland to be their starting quarterback for the rest of the season and that will only help the team with consistency.  SM Northwest made a last-second field goal to upend Olathe Northwest last week and that may have been what the Cougars needed to start rolling as a team.

Olathe East (2-1) at Olathe Northwest (2-1) at CBAC

While their records are even on paper, I think most would give Olathe East a solid edge in this game.  The Hawks have won two straight after their opening week loss at Olathe North.  Olathe Northwest fell for the first time last week against SM Northwest after surrendering a 14-point halftime lead.  Call it the battle for CBAC if you want, but Olathe East is 7-0 all-time against Olathe Northwest.

Olathe North (3-0) at SM South (0-3) at SM South District Stadium

Olathe North has played as well as any team in the league and they looked primed for win number four as they head to play SM South.  All three of the Raiders games have come down to the final possession, and in all cases they've lost--unfortunately for SM South, it won't get any easier this week.

SM West (1-2) at SM North (1-2) at SM North District Stadium

SM West is starving for a a strong victory and this will be a good chance to capture that.  The Vikings were wiped out in weeks one and three, and barely held off SM Northwest in week two.  This could be a game that sets the tone for the rest of their season.  SM North will try to even their record after dropping their last two games by a combined score of 87-14.

Game of the Week
Olathe South (3-0) at SM East (2-1) (Saturday Afternoon Game) at SM South District Stadium

These teams last faced off in the Regional round of the 2010 playoffs where Olathe South ended SM East's season by a score of 28-24.  I'm sure the Lancers are using that as motivation in this game, but they'll have to have to have more than just motivation to get past Olathe South.  The Falcons have played extremely well through three weeks and their running game is not fun to face, as they're average 277 rushing yards and just under four rushing touchdowns per game.
