Good thing Free State can't convert an extra point! They kicked 7 last week when they didn't need them and can't make one this week.
Speaking of kickers, that poor kid from BVNW is going to be the goat of the school today after getting the FG blocked but if their receivers had been able to catch any passes they would have won that game easily. That Fugate kid is the real deal at QB, if they can get some stickum on their receivers hands, OE and OS better watch out for the Huskies in districts!
I would just like to point out that OS beat ON more than they beat SME, especially factoring in that SME's qb was a backup. When all of SME's players get healthy, such as Dakota Collins (qb1), they will be looking for blood come playoff time, especially since they have been fluking in their last few games. Eaglelover1, care for a verbal joust?
Sniper, if I hadn't read your other posts on this site, I would say that's a straight up excuse. You seem to be more rational than other Eagle fans on here. My friends that work in the Sunflower league tell me that there must have been a record number of Chop Blocks called in that game, both sides.
It'll be interesting to see the Sunflower League/EKL matchups work out. Being a former EKL guy, I know BVNW and BVW won't care what OS and OE have accomplished thus far in that "watered down" league (yes, that is a common perspective of EKLites),
I couldn't really get a good look at the South chop blocks from the sideline unless it was painfully obvious (yet uncalled), but I think most chop blocks were made because of the stupid rule change that says you cant cut is you appear to have setup to pass block. When two people go high-low on a defender, thats one thing. But an O-Lineman diving after taking a step back is straight up ridiculous. Unless the O-lineman is already blocking and THEN tries to cut, I could somewhat see where the rule would make sense. My main point is that a chop block should require TWO players... not one.
Also, here are the sub-varsity scores from ON vs. OS
Due to being a Sophomore player, I was unable to attend the Freshman game, so I will not comment on it due to lack of stats and info.
The Sophomore team had a great game on both sides of the ball. I'll just say right now where the biggest improvement was shown - the Offense and Defensive Lineman. Throughout the entire season the line on both sides have had some trouble getting a good push. But this time they were revved up and ready to go from the start. However, the lineman were not the only ones to show some heart out there. There was a huge sense of urgency through the entire game on both sides of the ball. There was one problem with the team that kinda stings since I'm on the team... OS's lone touchdown came from a KR for a touchdown in the first half. Other than that fluke, the game went pretty smooth all day.

I understand the safety occured on a South defender illegally barking out signals and causing a premature snap while Bruce was looking at the sideline. Not saying that decided the game but was sure a big turning point.
Funny Govannon, most SL fans think of the EKL as sort of a minor league just a step above the KCK league. Certainly don't think BVW or BVN has any chance. Huskies might be able to upset OE but I kind of doubt it. I was impressed with Fugate in the BVHS game but their receivers were awful.
The EKL league is for boys. Other than BV, when has a team from this league competed for a state championship, Miege in 4A???? I feel sorry for OS if they make it far enough to play ON again, it will be ugly. Traditionally ON is always better in November when they have a regular season loss. Remember, the season starts this Friday, everything else was just a warm up.
Just got a text from a friend of mine at the Olathe Daily News, claims he has heard that SME parents are pushing for a coaching change with the assistants. Seem very disgruntled that they aren't competitive in the Sunflower this season, has anyone else heard this or is this just rumors??
It's funny as a Graduate from BVHS school (we won a state championship while I was there), we were always told that 5A KS was actually better competition that 6A KS, esp. In western KS. Ergo, winning in 5A is much more impressive than 6A. Our prejudices seemed confirmed when ON dropped down to 5A and was not able to win the State championship losing to Salina South in State when BV has beat that program twice. Is that right? I don't know. Then I coached at BV North, and we were average to say in the EKL, came in at 3-3 in district play and then beat an Undefeated SM West team. Our staff was not surprised to say it nicely. I know that even last year, People were saying that Olathe North would have finished 3rd or maybe even 4th in the EKL last year behind BV and GE (and possible Bishop Miege) Is that right, no probably not. OE and OS's near loss to EKL bottom dweller BV West last year did not help that perspective. I just think It's funny how different and biased perspectives are on just based on where people live and play. It's just human nature.
PS: I had to remind my BV friends that BV did not win a State Championship while they were up in 6A...
Govannon..North was 12-1 that year..Moomau was North's QB & safety and he got injured in that Salina South game after North had the lead. They lost by a touchdown in OT. That injury was the only reason why it turned out the way it did.
JoWhite, I know. I'm not making an argument, I'm informing you of perspectives held by people in the EKL. I have been a avid follower of KS HS football since 1997, I remember that game well.
Footballrulz....thanks for clarifying. I know most of the Sunflower schools hope they don't make a change...that way they know they will remain uncompetitive.
Flash back a couple of years ago when ON went into BV's house for a playoof game. ON came away victoriuos as BV had a major late 4th Q collapse. Botched punt, pass interference, inability to get first down and run time off clock...Go Eagles and Sunflower League...thanks for the short memory

much needed win for the lancers. GOOD WIN !!!!

Considering how explosive the SME offense was supposed to be... I wouldn't consider this a good win. However, a win is a win after all.
Agree with Sniper125. Certainly not the team they hyped themselves up to be. Great game tonight at ODAC. I pick ON by 2 tds.
Olathe South strikes first up 6-0. Check http://www.smnfootball.blogspot.com/ for live scores from around the league
wow! Olathe South gets a safety, then takes the ensuing punt back for a touchdown 15-7 OLS
Olathe South defense is playing incredibly well tonight.
Olathe South scores on a Jordan Ward run, extra point is good to make it 22-10 with 7:25 left in the 4th
Taylor Sheffield just made an incredible interception with 4:14 left. South can close it out with a good, long drive.
Fritz Wilbur with a great 40-something yard run to seal the game off. 29-10 with 3:18 left.
OS 29 - ON 10
Final
Congrats, OS Falcons, apparent Sunflower league champs!

Last night doesn't change my opinion about who will make playoffs but certainly changes seeding and matchups. Now:
(1) OS (9-0) v. SME (5-4)
(2) ON (8-1) V. SMN (3-6)
(3) SMW (6-3) v. OE (7-2)
(4) SMNW (4-5) v. LAW (6-3)
I know this will sound like a straight excuse, but the refs were making very bad calls until the 2nd half
