Kyle McFarland. LJWorld. |
1. Brad Strauss, Quarterback, Lawrence
Week Seven Stats: 17-of-25 passing, 179 yards, 2 TDs; 16 carries, 87 yards, 2 TDs
Strauss had another stellar week helping LHS' offense to scored 46 points and contributing four touchdowns himself. On the season he's combined for 26 touchdowns (16 passing and 10 rushing) which is 10 more combined touchdowns than the total for the player with the second most touchdowns, Kyle McFarland.
2. Kyle McFarland, Quarterback, Lawrence Free State
Week Seven Stats: 4-of-4 passing, 106 yards, 2 TDs; 5 carries, 28 yards; 1 defensive interception
McFarland didn't have to do much for his team to claim a victory against Wyandotte. Complete a few passes here, run a little bit there, pick off a pass. It was business as usual for arguably the league's best offensive and defensive combo player.
3. Gabe Guild, Running Back, SM South
Week Seven Stats: 24 carries, 244 yards, 2 TDs
Here's to hoping Guild's ankle injury doesn't prevent him from playing this week against Blue Valley North. The league's leading rusher was too much for Blue Valley Northwest to handle in the first half and they really caught a break when Guild when down with a bum ankle.
4. Brett Sterbach, Running Back, SM West
Week Seven Stats: 15 carries, 240 yards, 3 TDs
Sterbach didn't even play in the second half and he didn't need to--his 15 carries in the first did all the damage SM West needed. His biggest test of the season will come this Friday when he faces a SM East linebacking core that is probably the best in the league.
5. Hayden Frazier, Running Back, Olathe East
Week Seven Stats: 26 carries, 248 yards, 2 TDs
Frazier sneaks back onto the list after a formidable effort in his team's 31-14 victory on Friday. What I like about Frazier is the momentum and speed he builds once he gets past the second level. We'll see what he's able to do against a Blue Valley Northwest defense that will be keying on him all night.
Honorable Mention: Jason Randall, Leavenworth; Venus Triplett, Olathe North; Jordan Darling, SM East; Russell White, Olathe South; Judson Cole, Leavenworth.

Social Media Standings
Follow me @eliunderwood. I will follow you back. Teams that have the most interaction during the week (follows, Retweets, Tweets @eliunderwood, Favorites, comments, etc.) earn the most cred on the social media standings. I also factor in how solid each team's student section is at the games.
The most interactive Tweeters from each school get their username's listed below their school. I would strongly encourage you to follow these users because of their high volume of interactivity.
1. Olathe South Falcons
@BigDaddyBax
@barely_jaylen
@D_Nelly31
@clairesunn
The Falcons hold on to the top spot for yet another week. But it's getting close--the Lawrence faithful are nipping at their heels. It doesn't help that Olathe South has dropped three of their last four games. Winning tends to correlate with increased interaction.
2. Lawrence Chesty Lions
@theRev_Carnahan
@kelseybelsey16
@pubhouse_nation
There's a ton of interaction with LHS fans across the board. Emails, Twitter, the comments section. They've really stepped it up the past few weeks (it doesn't hurt that they're winning) and it's showing. I'm looking forward to seeing how they close out this week, and the type of impact they can make leading up to the Free State game.
3. SM West Vikings
@kbooger
@vakejance
@_Pops19
The Vikings got a nice boost when I received this Youtube video earlier in the week. I'm hoping their interaction (as well as that from SM East) pick up in the next few days. After all, it's not every season that you play in arguably the top game of the decade from your school district.
