Kopecky leaves Leavenworth for Eudora

Kopecky
Kevin Kopecky, formerly the head coach at Leavenworth, has left after three seasons with the Pioneers to take the head coaching position at Eudora High School.

During his three years as Leavenworth's head coach Kopecky compiled a 7-21 record, including a playoff berth in 2011.  The program's 4-5 record this past season marked its highest win total since 2004.

Previously Kopecky served as the head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas from 1997 through 2008.  He quietly left Aquinas during the offseason in 2009, before landing at Leavenworth one season later.

For Leavenworth the search begins for what will be their fifth head coach of the past decade.  The new head coach will inherit a solid core of players to work with, including senior running back Jason Randall, who was a First Team All-Sunflower League selection in 2012.

Hate to see Kopecky leave leavenworth, hopefully the next coach can keep the program headed in the right direction.

He'll walk into a great situation at EHS. State Runner-up last two years. He should be congratulated for his work at Lev. I hope they find a great new coach.
