Week Nine Sunflower League Extra

Lawrence Free State's Joe Dineen didn't play
the entire second half due to injury, but he's
expected to play this Friday.
MVP Ratings
Ratings are subject to change on a week to week basis.

1. Joe Dineen, Quarterback, Free State
Week eight stats: 7-of-9 passing, 76 yards; 3 carries, 33 yards, 1 TD

Dineen left the Leavenworth game midway through the second quarter after suffering a hard hit to the ribs. He's expected to start this week, and Free State will need him, as a loss by six or more points to their crosstown rival would likely mean no playoffs.

2. Jason Randall, Running Back, Leavenworth
Week eight stats: 21 carries, 140 yards, 1 TD; 1 kick return TD

After a rough beginning to the season, Randall has been nails for the Pioneers. His kickoff return for a touchdown actually gave Leavenworth a second half lead on Free State, but they weren't able to hold on for the victory.

3. Venus Triplett, Running Back, Olathe North
Week eight stats: 17 carries, 54 yards, 2 TDs

Triplett was held in check with his rushing yardage total, but he still managed to score two key touchdowns for the Eagles. Had it not been for a late miracle touchdown by Gardner-Edgerton, the focus would have been on Triplett outperforming Traevohn Wrench.

4. Connor Leach, Quarterback, Olathe East
Week eight stats: 10-fo-23 passing, 176 yards, 2 TDs

Leach and the Hawks really struggled against Blue Valley Northwest, and that was a surprise. Still, 176 yards passing and two touchdowns suggest the loss wasn't on Leach. He might be the biggest advantage Olathe East has on SM South this week.

5. Ra'Keim Abdul, Running Back, SM South
Week eight stats: 17 carries, 220 yards, 2 TDs; 2-of-4 passing, 44 yards, 1 TD

Abdul resurfaces in the MVP Ratings after an outstanding week eight, where he combined for three touchdowns in a blowout victory against Blue Valley North. When he's healthy there's no doubt he's among the league's best all-around talents.

Honorable Mention: Cole Murphy, Olathe North; Jake Seurer, Olathe South; Christian Blessen, SM East; Drew Green, Lawrence; Jake Horner, SM Northwest; Luke Taylor, SM East.
