Sunflower League Extra & Social Media Standings

Venus Triplett. KC Star.
MVP Ratings
Player ratings are subject to change on a weekly basis.

1. Venus Triplett, Running Back, Olathe North
Week One Stats: 16 carries, 71 yards, 2 TDs; 1 PR TD

Although he was held under 100 yards rushing, Triplett played as good of a game as you can ask for, scoring three touchdowns and totaling over 150 all-purpose yards.

2. Joe Dineen, Quarterback, Lawrence Free State
Week One Stats: 6-of-9 passing, 73 yards, 2 TDs; 8 carries, 58 yards, 1 TD

Dineen lived up to his preseason billing in week one, basically dominating the one half he actually played. Don't be shocked if he finishes the year in the 1,000/1,000 club.

3. Jake Suerer, Quarterback, Olathe South
Week One Stats: 8-of-12 passing, 219 yards, 4 TDs; 4 carries, 32 yards; 14 tackles, 1 INT

As impressive as his offensive efforts were, Seurer might have played better on defense, recording double-digit tackles and a interception. If he continues to play like that he'll be atop this list in no time.

4. Andre Maloney, Cornerback, SM West
Week One Stats: 2 catches, 57 yards, 1 TD; 3 tackles

Maloney is almost untouchable in open field. Seriously, if you thought his highlight reel was impressive last year wait until this fall. And he also has his cornerback position on complete lockdown.

5. Ra'Keim Abdul, Safety, SM South
Week One Stats: 17 carries, 96 yards; 2 catches, 11 yards; 4 tackles

Abdul only played one half before suffering a significant leg cramp which completely limited his action in the third and fourth quarters. A cramp-free Abdul could have rushed for 150 yards against SM West.

Honorable Mention: Jason Randall, Leavenworth; Cole Murphy, Olathe North; Christian Blessen, SM East; Cole Dahlquist, Olathe Northwest; Connor Leach, Olathe East; Tom McCue, Olathe South.

Social Media Standings

Follow me on Twitter at @eliunderwood.  I will follow you back. Followers with the most interactions (retweets, favorites, questions, comments, etc.) earn the most cred for themselves and their schools in the standings. Remember to hash tag your Tweets with #SFLfball.

I'm going to mix things up a bit, at least in the early portion of the season. The standings will rank the top five Twitter followers, followed by the top three schools overall. These standing will be conducted on a week-by-week basis, so each week offers new opportunities for Twitter users to join the rankings.

Most Interactive Schools

1. Olathe South: The Falcons have unquestionably dominated the Social Media Standings since their inception last year. Win or lose, they support Falcon football with a passion unmatched by any school in the league (or state for that matter). It will be interesting to see how they travel this week to SM South District Stadium.

2. Lawrence: Football is deeply rooted in the LHS culture, and I see it every week on Twitter.  When the Olathe South faithful aren't Tweeting my way, it's the LHS crowd that fills up my interactions. Keep it up, Chesties.

3. N/A: Honestly, outside of Olathe South and LHS, the majority (save a few here and there) of the follows and interactions have been from the players themselves.  Will fans at the other schools pick it up this week or will the Falcons and Chesty Lions dominate the rest of the way? We shall see.
