Thursday Report

Week Three Matchups
All game times 7 pm unless otherwise noted

SM East (0-2) at SM South (1-1) (Thursday Night Game)
SM South displayed a well balanced attack last week in their 28-7 defeat of Lawrence. Tonight, the Raiders will take on winless SM East in the Metro Sports HyVee High School Game of the Week. SM East will make their third attempt at garnering their head coach Chip Sherman his 200th career victory.

Olathe North (2-0) at Olathe Northwest (1-1)
Olathe North dominated a talented opponent in SM Northwest last week--now they play a neighboring school that they have consistently beaten up on in past seasons (with the exception of 2006). Olathe Northwest will do all in their power to claim an upset in this rivalry game.

SM West (2-0) at Leavenworth (0-2)
SM West has played the role of a gritty team so far this year. But, gritty doesn't necessarily translate into all out domination of opponents. The Vikings are now going against a Leavenworth team that has been punished the past few weeks--this should finally be the breakout game for the Vikings.

Olathe South (1-1) at Olathe East (1-1)
This game offers another Olathe School District rivalry. Both team's losses have come to SM West, and both of those losses were fairly close. Essentially either one of these teams could be 2-0 right now.

SM Northwest (1-1) at Lawrence (0-2)
After being dismantled by Olathe North last week the Cougars of SM Northwest will be looking to regain back some of their notoriety on the conference scene. Given the pitiful displays Lawrence has shown in the first two weeks of the season that may very well happen.

SM North (2-0) at Lawrence Free State (1-1)
Both teams in this matchup will have a chance to prove their worth. SM North has been impressive thus far, but their two wins have come against teams with a combined 0-4 record. Lawrence Free State experienced what appeared to be a letdown in week one against Olathe East, before blasting SM East last week. The winner of this game will validate alot about just how good of a team they are.
