Scouting Report
Perhaps no team in the Sunflower League was hit as hard by graduation as LHS.  For the Chesty Lions to have a successful 2013 campaign, it's going to take monumental efforts from their returning starters, especially early on.  Wittman's talents will be especially vital for the program to continue moving forward, instead of having to take a step back.

Wittman isn't the biggest or most dominant returning lineman in the league, but he's as strong as bull, he moves well in space and he's only going to be better with a season of varsity experience to lean on.  As a junior he spent most of his time rotating between the guard and center positions in LHS' spread offensive attack.  He doubled quite a bit on the inside (every lineman's dream blocking assignment) but when he was asked to pull on screens or block in open field he did very well. He's also the type of player who plays to the whistle and isn't satisfied unless the defender is pancaked.

This fall, to help make up for the losses on defense, Wittman is also going to be playing defensive tackle.  It's hard to say if his talents offensively will translate to defense, but at the very least it gives LHS a big body to help clog up run lanes.  And while the Chesty Lions have quite a few questions marks to iron out come September, Wittman is not one of them.  He'll be a focal point of the team's approach from every opening snap.
