Young Rivalry

SM West facing BV Northwest once again this season continues a sort of sub-rivalry that has developed since 2004. Here is a look at the games since the 2004 season:

2004: SM West was 6-1 facing the 5-2 Huskies of BV Northwest. The Huskies came to play and blow out SM West, leading at one point 34-0. BV Northwest's star running back Brian Thies torched the Viking defense. BV Northwest won 34-7.

2005: After suffering an upset in week seven, SM West was in a win or go home situation. The Vikings, 6-1, had to go to the Blue Valley District Athletic Center to play the 6-1 BV Northwest squad. In a defensive battle, SM West finished on top 19-7.

2006: SM West finished off an undefeated season by defeating the 3-5 Huskies 42-0. The game was never close.

2007: With both teams eliminated from playoff contention the game was simply for braggin rights and to add another W to the win column. Down 21-14, SM West drove late in the fourth quarter and scored a touchdown. Down one point, SM West elected to go for two points, but was unsuccessful on the attempt. BV Northwest won 21-20.
