Sunflower League Extra

Top 5 Player Ratings
Player Ratings are subject to change on a week-to-week basis

1. Brandon Willingham, Running Back, Olathe East
Week Eight Stats: 21 carries, 213 yards, 2 TDs

Willingham (right) has firmly established himself as the most consistent of the top running backs in the Sunflower League. His 1,249 yards rushing leads the league in that category, and his production should only increase this week, and into the playoffs.

2. John Schrock, Quarterback, SM East
Week Eight Stats: 14-of-27 passing, 184 yards, 1 TD; 1 rushing TD

Schrock played a great game against SM West and he made several big completions on third downs that really helped SM East to win the game. The only down side--Schrock left the game
late with an injury that has been reported by some as "season ending." There is no official word on the injury.

3. Adonis Saunders, Running Back, Olathe North
Week Eight Stats: 21 carries, 101 yards, 1 TD

Saunders didn't have the best game of his career on Friday, and he didn't need to. Olathe North thoroughly dominated Free State and Saunders' one touchdown was enough to give the Eagles a 28-0 halftime advantage.

4. Dylan Perry, Quarterback, Lawrence Free State
Week Eight Stats: 6-of-21 passing, 84 yards, 1 TD; 19 carries, 81 yards

Perry struggled against a talented Olathe North defense on Friday. His 165 yards of total offense were solid, but he threw a crucial first half interception that really put his team in a hole which they weren't able to overcome.

5. Stephen Mangelsdorf, Quarterback, SM Northwest
Week Eight Stats: 16-of-21 passing, 163 yards, 3 TDs; 1 rushing TD

Mangelsdorf's team had another easy victory against Leavenworth but regardless he continues to put up impressive numbers. His 76% passer completion rate and four touchdowns were as good as anyone in week eight.

Honorable Mention: Victor Simmons, Austin Fulson, Tre Burt, Nick Bandy

Eli, you are so stupid...clearly that the Eagles are rankes 1st...ass you can see it on thr MaxPrep website Kansas 6A ranking...
1. Heights (Wichita)
2. Dodge City
3. Manhattan
4. OLATHE NORTH
5. SHAWNEE MISSION EAST
6. OLATHE EAST

I smiled so hard seeing that SME bypassed the Hawks! Now, that what it is suppose to be!

Olathe North Eagles is the superior of the Sunflower League.

from what I understand Schrock is out at least 2 weeks with a sprained AC joint... No doubt he will be missed if he is out more than 2 weeks. But I think most SL fans will remember Robby Moriarty. He actually had more yards than John last year and I think he had more passing TDs as well. Rob will do fine in backing up John this week and hopefully he will catch his stride going into the playoffs and pull a Jonathon Moxon on the Kansas State playoffs... maybe we can install the oop-dee-oop offense.

As far as the power rankings go... TAKE IT EASY GUYS! geez its just one guys opinion, the rankings literally mean nothing. If you look at all of the other sites state rankings they have some 5A teams above 6A teams and one even had a 4A team above some 6A teams. Most of the high ranked teams were west kansas teams too so obviously they are all biased. STATE RANKINGS MEAN NOTHING! the only thing that matters is WINNING THIS WEEK so you can play next week.

GO EAST! BEAT SOUTH!

Hey, Chicken! How'd the move go? Where you at in CO? Hopefully at least getting to enjoy the moutains. Of course the rankings are just for entertainment purposes, eveyone will get the chance to prove it on the field. I do have to ask hater though...If OE 17 LFS 0, ON 38 LFS 7 PROVES ON is better than O East even though the Hawks crushed the Eagles, then what do the scores SMW 37 SMNW 13, ON 31 SMNW 29 prove? Probably too subtle for him. Anyway, I happen to agree that the two or three best teams are on the west side of the state this year. Heights average score is bout 55-6, and yeah, it's easy to dismiss Heights and say they only play crappy Wichita schools all year but they did beat BC in week 1 21-0 and Carroll is no crappy team. I picked Heights to get to the championship game last year when no one else did, but this year I think Dodge may be even better. The west is not very deep though only 4 teams that are any good whereas the east has 7 quality teams. Should be interesting playoffs just hope my Vikes can stay in the conversation and beat BVN tomorrow.

Lawrence has not been eliminated from playoff contention. If they beat Free State by 8 points or more and Olathe North beats Northwest then the Lions are in the playoffs. Also you need to check on Austin Flory's interceptions. He has at least 2 and probably more.

EHHH, give it up on the ranking! Take it easy and yes I argee that the Olathe North topped them all but keep in your mind that the web owner can do whatever he want since he is a Shawnee Mission West kid....who beat the Vikings in their first game? US!

Anonymous said...

And who beat West in week 8?

Anonymous said...

SME beat west in week 8

Anonymous said...

^^ Who give a rat's ass about SME beat SMW? Olathe North beat them both, dearly and the Olathe East will not face them so who's care about these SM football team.

PS-
SM East just lost their spoiled child QB starter so....they' re out!

just another ignorant ON fan ^

olathe north got whooped by olathe east. Olathe north barely beat SMNW and SMW. On the other hand SME shut out SMNW and held SMW to 10 points, the least that anyone has held SMW to all season. SME barely lost to O North due to some very questionable touchdowns being called back, and at this point east is a much better team than when they played olathe north in week 4... sounds to me like Olathe north is the 3rd best team in the sunflower league... certainly not the 1st.

"Spoiled child qb starter"

What does that even mean?

Anonymous said...

^^ another ass kisser ^^
" ignorant fan "...LOL looks who is talking....At least Olathe North beat them both and you cries.

Olathe North is CERTAINLY THE 1ST in the Sunflower.

You just mad because they both SM lost to them.

Anonymous said...

You just mad because Olathe east whooped O North 25-0!!!

Anonymous said...

^ Nah I just mad at how Eli does on ranking is totally BS! And as for your ignorant comment on about Olathe East.....LOL! You're another example of those idiot know nothing about football nor how ranking works...get a life. Evenually, Eagles will definitly beat Hawks on their next match if the Hawks can handle the playoff first! Highly doubtful!

This "hater" guy is ridiculous.
